Yamamasa Koyamaen’s motto is to give the ultimate priority to delivering fine tea. As a traditional matcha manufacturer, they are fully focused on creating delicious teas with harmonious, fresh taste.
Yamamasa Koyamaen grows tea since the Edo era and still owns the same tea gardens in Uji as back then. Their tea specialists make it an art form to ensure the production of the best matcha with care and passion, and they especially emphasise the importance of the best raw ingredients possible to reach the perfect taste.
Origin: Kyoto Prefecture, Japan
The meaning of Ogurayama "小倉山" :
"Mount Ogura" is a mountain in Saga, Kyoto, that faces Arashiyama from across the Hozu river. It is said that Fujiwara no Sadaie (also known as Fujiwara no Teika) compiled the "Hyakunin Isshu" ("One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each") at his lodge there. For this reason, the seminal waka anthology is also sometimes called the "Ogura Hyakunin Isshu".
Ogurayama is an exceptionally tasty, pampering, dreamy matcha tea, mild in character with sweet, creamily full-bodied, delicate flavours. As an usucha tea, it offers a rather pleasant, joyful experience for those seeking a more engaging flavour as well as for those just getting to know matcha tea.
Usucha (thin tea) grade Uji matcha.
